SSN: Nov 1st

For those who are following, my post, SSN will be what I call my Scripture Soak November.  Today the study will come from Psalm 1.
The passage of scripture I chose from this psalm was Psalm 1:2 and 3

   (S) Scripture: Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the sat of the scornful; But is delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.

 (O) Observation:  This is a psalm about those who follow hard after God.  I can't even begin to tell you how hard this is to do, and I'm sure that you are well aware.  It's hard to follow God, because so much of the world is ungodly.  It's hard to follow God because in doing so you find yourself in a place of sacrifice a lot.  Following God often requires things that are against the flesh, because the flesh is sinful, and our souls are what is Holy.  It isn't about what 'feels' good, and often you experience a great deal of 'weeding' when you follow after God.  Yet, in the Psalm it reminds us that we are blessed because we are following God.  We are blessed because we don't just 'go with the flow' and we decide to stand up for what we believe is right, instead of just going along with everyone else.

(A) Application: I believe this spoke to me the most when it talks about Gods law, and how we are to  "Meditate day and night" it doesn't get any clearer than that.  How can you be a Christian if you don't read scripture?  How can you immerse yourself in his law if you don't study it?  We should make scripture reading a priority in our lives, and I know from my own personal experience, that isn't always the case for most of us.

(K) Kneeling in Prayer:  Lord, please help me to make your Word a priority in my life.  Open it up to me and give me a desire for your word like never before.  Encourage me when I am leading my life in a way that is pleasing to you, and show me how to go in your word, so that I know I am headed in the right direction even if the world tries to convince me otherwise.
