Happy Homemaker Monday 3/6/17

So this weekend as I was sorting out my linky party list, I came across a new Linky party on Mondays that I'm going to try hard to be consistent to join!  It's Happy Homemaker Monday  over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, and I'm so excited to begin this linkup!

The weather
   Lately it has felt like March.  I say that because February certainly didn't feel like February.  It was unseasonably warm for a good part of the month.  Today it's March, its around 42 and its raining, which is fabulous.  I love rainy days!  They make good especially for Monday, to stay in and set our minds back into the mindset of learning, reading good books, and just being at home.  We have had a couple of long days last week, visiting back home, dental appointments and spring cleaning!  Now that all of that is ironed out we are back to the grind with school for a few weeks.  How perfect a rainy day fits into that schedule!

On my reading pile:::
   For our Bible study with the ladies here on campus I am reading Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Our Minds, by Jen Wilkin and soaking up every ounce of it!  I'm also readingSay Goodbye to Survival Mode: by Crystal Paine.  I just loved her Make over your Mornings course so so so much that I totally jumped on board.  I love how she writes and challenges you to set goals through her writing!!  Also, since I absolutely have to be reading something fiction at all times, and I'm also a junkie for classical literature, I'm also reading The Great Gatsby, which needs no introduction whatsoever :)

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
Trolls!  Haha, my kiddos got this a week ago and it's probably their favorite movie at the moment!  Hubby and I also watched Allied last week.  I've been wanting to see that for awhile.  It wasn't like Mr and Mrs Smith as I suspected it would be.  I enjoyed the movie a lot!  I like period films in general however.

On my TV:::
Once Upon a Time came back on yesterday!  Eeeek!  It was a great episode too!  Probably my favorite one thus far in this season!  Fantastic!  Also, its not a show, but I purchased Super Mario World for our Wii U!  The old version, the SNES version!  We had SO much fun playing!!  Our family rule is that we only play Nintendo one day a week though, so I guess I'll have to pine away until next Saturday lol!

On the menu for this week:::
Working on the meal planning..  that's one of my biggest goals.  I'm not very good at it, but I do have a new system I'm trying to put into the works!  Stay tuned...

On my to do list:::
I have a blog review coming up on a really great homeschool curriculum we've been using!  I also have to finish spring cleaning, which is so close to being done!!  YAY!  Just cleaning blinds, windows and pictures are left!  The warmer clothes are unpacked and the sweaters all packed up, the kids room is clean as is ours.  I'm so so so glad this is almost over!!

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
  I am not skilled with any of those types of crafty wonderful, but I am really good with digital photography and graphic design!  I've been working on a new website for my teeny tiny photography business, and catching up on putting our photos into a book on shutterfly, if that counts! It certainly does to me.  :)  Organizing family photos is so important to me!

Looking forward to:::
DISNEY!!!  Can it be that its only two weeks away!  Just a handful of days!  Oh my goodness!!!  I'm about to explode with excitement!!!

Looking around the house:::
   We recently re-organized, adding a couple of amazing bookshelves to our living room that updated it and gave it a nice look.  I need another sling bookshelf for the kids books, as they are filling up my other!  I added another one to my amazon wish list to hopefully purchase soon!  The one that we have is a KidKraft Sling Bookshelf and I love it.  It is sturdy and the books are all facing outward, which provokes my kids to read them.  I love it, and hope to get another soon.  Our home is cozy.  I love our home.

From the camera:::
  Seems I haven't taken many photos lately.  One of the downfalls of non-social networking lol.  But I did catch my boys cuddling the other morning, and it was the sweetest thing ever!

Prayer List::
  I'm praying for the Hayes family of Avery County who lost their 18 year old son last week.  Caleb had a heart condition from birth and had a transplant in late January.  He went to be with Jesus last Thursday.  It broke my heart and theirs too I'm certain, but he's finally healthy and had not been for much of his life.
   Also praying for my husband in his ministry and his school.  It's not an easy thing to do all that he does..  full-time student, youth minister, part-time meat cutter and full time father of four.  He carries a lot, and I pray for him all the time.
   Other campus families, because this is a hard time in all of our lives!
   And for safe travels and a good vacation.  This is truthfully the trip of a lifetime that God has blessed us with, so I'm praying he will have his hand on it and let everything go smoothly and without incident!

What I'm wearing today:::
   Well!  lol, still haven't made it out of my pjs and yoga pants!  But who wants to change when they are wearing Yoga pants?  Right??

One of my simple pleasures:::
   Yesterday while we were visiting a church in South Carolina, as we were walking out I saw my little boy (Brother) standing at the edge of the grass.  He was looking at something and I wasn't sure what.  I walked up to him to see what he was doing and he pointed at a little plant poking out of the dirt.  He said, "It needs water!"  That moment made me smile and has made me smile over and over again over the past day.  I love his sweet heart, and I love taking moments to stop and see a small plant in the ground.  It makes me appreciate so much the slow, wonderful life God has blessed me with, and the beautiful people he allows me to share it with.

Bible verse, Devotional:::

   Love this linky party!  I'm so thankful that I have found it!!!  Join it HERE! :)

  1. I really enjoyed reading your post - I hope you'll make Happy Homemaker Monday a regular part of your blog. We really enjoyed Allied too. I am so far behind in my traditional scrapbooking that I have considered switching to Shutterfly but then I just don't know what to do with all the memorabilia - tickets, brochures, programs - that I save. Have a fabulous time at Disney!

    1. I had to switch to Shutterfly I was so overwhelmed with pics and paying shipping costs for prints!! I love it! You can find free photo book coupons all the time especially with Kellogg family rewards from cereal box codes!!! I keep memorabilia in a box!!
      Allied was great! I think I've loved Brad Pitt most of my life lol!!
      I love this linkup and will be back Monday!!!

  2. What a SWEET picture of your boys! I loved ALLIED, but was sure taken aback by the ending, though realizing now it was the best of the worst scenarios. WWII movies draw me in EVERY time.

    I recently switched to shutterfly also and LOVE it which surprised me as I really LOVE scrapbooking! As for Pamela's concern I just scan those things in to make them usable jpegs.

    Have a GREAT week.

    1. Now that is a fabulous idea! Never thought of that before but I will from now on!!! I sometimes forget I even have a scanner lol, I use it as a copier so much more!

  3. Hi Stacy!!
    I can't wait to see your digital photography website!!! Sounds like fun!!!

    I saw that y'all switched out cold weather/ hot weather clothing. Ugh I DREAD THIS!!!!!!! That means as I know you know, making the children try on everything to see what fits and what needs to be passed on, etc. NO FUN!!! Worth it in the end, yes, but takes forever and makes quite a mess!!!

    Thank you for visiting my blog!!
